Sámij åhpadusguovdásj is a Sámi educational institution with a long history and an important player in the Sámi community. The school’s primary task is to develop, preserve, and pass on Sámi traditions and culture, to offer a diversity of Sámi education, to be a cultural meeting place, and to strengthen and preserve Sámi identity, language, and community. Sámij åhpadusguovdásj should be the obvious place for all Sámi who want to grow in their culture.

The school currently has 12 employees.

Sámij åhpadusguovdásj is seeking a teacher in dibmaduodje/textile and leather craft with a specialization in the area of North Sámi tradition.

Job Responsibilities

Your main task in the job is to teach, guide, and inspire those studying dibmaduodje, textiles/leather. You will work based on the school’s governing documents and implement them in your teaching. You will be part of a team and together with colleagues and students create conditions for learning and knowledge sharing.

Your role as an educator includes, in addition to teaching, guidance, structuring and developing the participants' learning processes, planning, social pedagogical tasks, administrative tasks, and other duties that follow the school’s operations.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is an experienced teacher in textile crafts or equivalent as assessed by the employer. You are well acquainted with and have extensive knowledge of dibmaduodje, have a specialization in North Sámi area tradition, and preferably several areas. A teaching license, knowledge of various craft techniques and area traditions, as well as skills in Sámi languages are advantageous.

As a person, you have a positive and professional attitude that instills trust and creates security. You have good collaboration skills. You actively participate in collegial dialogues and the development work of the organization. You are used to working independently and taking your own initiatives. You are open to professional development and are not afraid to try new methods. You have good digital competence.

Employment Type:

• permanent position at 60% with a 6-month probationary period

with the possibility of

• temporary extension of the position to 100% during the autumn of 2026 and possibly spring 2027 by agreement.

Scope: 60% permanent employment, with the possibility of an additional 40% during the autumn of 2026 and possibly spring 2027 by agreement.

Start Date: 2026-08-12 or by agreement.
